I'm called Ben by my friends
I was born in Oroville, California on November 6, 1948 to Bernard D. Anlage Jr. and Mary Suzanna(Suzie) Anlage. I, like my Father and Grandfather before me, was nicknamed Benny. At the very early age of 3 months my parents and I moved to Miami, Florida where I spent the next 11 years.
My Father was in the Navy and we moved around a little bit after that. To Corpus Christi, Tx. for 4 years and then to San Diego, Ca. for 5 years and then on to Whidbey Island Wa. for a couple of months. From Whidbey Island I went active duty in the U.S.Navy and served as a Photographer's Mate aboard the USS Valley Forge (LPH-8) and then with Patrol Squadron One(VP-1). On the Valley Forge I went to Viet Nam and with VP-1 I deployed to Japan. I was in the Naval Reserve a total of 12 years and was a First Class Photographers Mate when I transfered to the Alabama Army National Guard (Company B, 711 Signal Btln). I was in the Alabama Army National Guard for only 1 year before I resigned because my family needed me more than they did at that time.
I met my wife (Maggie) on September 25, 1969 and after a short engagement we married on November 29, 1969. We have 4 living children. Michael, Kathleen, Bernard IV (who wants to be called Dominic), and Martha.
Michael is now married to Kimberly and they have a beautiful little girl, Fiona. They are expecting a new son in December.
By trade I am a computer programmer....A darn good computer programmer. My Resume
I've been programming mainframes for over 30 years.
Currently I am not employed but I am looking for a job in Jacksonville, Florida as a Software Engineer.
I have many interests. Besides my family that is.
I enjoy Baking, photography, leather work, making jewelry, Playing the bodhran(Irish Drum), needle point, brewing mead, Ham radio and woodworking.
I have Played my drum at the Hoggetowne Medieval Faire for several years now as Lord Benjamin the Drummer.
There are other things too but I'm too lazy to put all of them in here right now.
I am a member of the Knights of Columbus
in the Forth Degree.
I am a member of the Orange Park Amateur Radio Club OPARC and the Clay County Sixers W4SIX.
